I gotta be completely honest with you… these Salt River family photos are probably one of my favorite family sessions I’ve had the honor of capturing. The Steele family have a special place in my heart. When I moved to Arizona back in 2021, they were the first family to book me for family photos in Phoenix. Now it’s been 5 years in a row of having the blessing of capturing their cute family.

This year in particular, they chose to have their family photos at the Salt River Water Users Recreation Area in Arizona. This spot is truly a hidden gem and the cutest little oasis!

I pre-scout all locations before sessions of any kind, so I already knew exactly where I wanted to take them! This spot is tucked behind where everyone else goes and features a mini bank area by the water with lush green trees in the background. Around this area, there are tons of little pockets that also have overgrown grasses that lead to hidden paths over the rocks. It opens up to a larger space, but just a little bit rockier (so if this spot interests you for Salt River family photos, I would recommend a good flat show or to definitely avoid heels lol). There was a good bit of rain a few weeks before their family session, so when we got to the rockier part, I followed them as they explored the little creeks and smaller pockets to roam.

Throughout their Salt River family photos, I captured the classic mantle shots (ya know the good ol’ everyone’s smiling photo) then spent the rest of their session was spent exploring, capturing good candids, and giving them direction as needed.
